What people have said about us...

Student 1:
I have experienced discrimination and intolerance myself and it’s really not nice. Our neighbour called us a lot of racist names for not playing with her kid. Then she pushed me & beat up my other neighbour.I think this programme about tolerance was really good. There are a lot of racist people and then it’s really nice that there are a lot of people who will stand up to racism. It was good to talk about these issues in my class because it is nice to know that there are other people experiencing the same thing as me…

Student 2:
What I learnt from taking part in this programme was that people should have human rights and you should respect other people’s religion. I think the problem about religious intolerance can be solved by the government. We need more schools that mix different religions….

Student 3:
I think I learnt a lot from taking part in this programme. There should be no harm in having your own religion….

Student 4:
I have actually experienced intolerance myself but I prefer not to speak about this to strangers. I learnt that there are more people like me….

Student 5:
I haven’t experienced discrimination myself and it surprised me that so many from my class actually had. I realised how much people who get discriminated suffer and I don’t want that to happen….

Student 6:
I learnt the meaning of bystander and perpetrator and I think I after this programme will perceive people in a different light and be more understanding….

Teacher 1:
This programme complimented the Citizenship programme and Community scheme of work very well. It linked to year 7.I have noticed that as a result of this programme my students are more familiar with the language of rights and they were much more willing to discuss topics of intolerance and discrimination in lesson 3 than lesson 1….

Teacher 2:
Some of the year 12 students have been reflecting on the language they use in relation to others…

Teacher 3:
An interesting set of presentation. Tolerance and religion can be thorny subjects but the multi ethnic nature of the values compensated for this…
